SMS FUNDRAISER UNDERWAY The SMS student body and staff began their annual school-wide fundraiser on Friday, January 15th. Since the school is in it's first year, our funds to attend field trips, host assemblies/speakers and events is low. The school is trying to raise funds for: 6th grade YMCA/Outdoor Education trip in May, 7th grade field trip to the Poudre Learning Center & The Museum of Natural History, 8th grade field trips to Little Shop of Physics & Celestial Seasonings. We are not selling any product, just asking for donations to start our fund, 100% of which goes to Severance Middle School and are tax deductible! All donations are welcome, please drop off in the SMS office or call for more information.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES FEB. 9 & 16, 2010 Please plan to attend your student's Parent Teacher Conference. Times on both days will be from 3:30-7:30 pm. Sign-up forms and information will be sent home with students on Monday, February 1st. Please return forms by Friday, February 5th. Students are required to attend with parents to share their progress. Click on the Grade link below for more information.

5th GRADE PARENT INFORMATION MEETINGS 5th grade students who will be entering 6th grade in the fall of 2010 and their parents are invited to attend one of Severance Middle School's Parent Information Meetings in April.

SMS PTAC-Parent Teacher Advisory Council
SMS will be having our next PTAC meeting on Thursday, February 11th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the SMS library. Please join us and be a part of making positive decisions and improvements for our school. We want to thank the parents who joined us last meeting and provided great questions and conversations about our school.

The media center is well stocked and ready to go. Maintaining a collection for middle school is challenging, as we service a wide range of maturity levels. Young adult literature has changed, and you may find your student reading books with mature themes and language. Please have frequent conversations about books and contact me if you have questions.
